JFE, Kobe Steel shift to market rate for coking coal purchases

Companies join rival Nippon Steel in dropping price negotiation system

TOKYO -- JFE Steel and Kobe Steel have reached a basic agreement with major international mining companies to stop negotiating prices for coking coal; instead, the Japanese steelmakers will gradually introduce pricing based on international benchmarks.
