Japan LCD production being further curtailed

Sharp is considering suspending part of the production lines at the Mie plant in Japan.

OSAKA -- Sharp plans to reorganize its domestic production lines for liquid crystal displays in a bid to turn around its mainstay LCD business without resorting to outside help.

     The troubled Japanese electronics maker plans to end production of LCD panels at its Tenri plant, in Nara Prefecture, at the end of August and partially suspend production at a Mie plant.
