Japan Post has eye on acquisitions at home: CEO

TOKYO -- Japan Post Co. is looking for acquisitions and partnerships to expand its domestic business through such means as providing services for seniors, new CEO Kunio Yokoyama told reporters Tuesday.

Yokoyama, who took office at the end of June, said the company will keep its 24,000 post offices across Japan. The Japan Post Holdings unit aims to boost earnings by selling more easy-to-use financial products and regional farm produce. Post offices will also offer banking services in underpopulated areas where banks have shut down branches.
