Demand for store-to-home meal delivery is expected to grow in graying Japan.

TOKYO -- Some of Japan's largest retail companies are now working more closely with delivery contractors to ensure smooth deliveries to customers, recognizing the lack of drivers could stand in the way of their business growth.

Convenience store operator Seven-Eleven Japan has partnered with Seino Holdings, a package delivery company based in central Japan. Seino created a wholly owned subsidiary to handle deliveries for the Seven & i Holdings unit, with operations going into full swing in May.
