Kansai Electric to reshuffle management, revise strategy

OSAKA -- Kansai Electric Power will reshuffle its management as the utility reworks its strategy to deal with the full liberalization of the Japanese retail electricity market next month.

The Osaka-based company will pursue new business partnerships, seeking "win-win collaborations for all sides," said Executive Vice President Shigeki Iwane. The 62-year-old will be appointed president following a shareholders meeting in late June, Kansai Electric announced Monday. President Makoto Yagi, 66, will become chairman, replacing Shosuke Mori, 77, who will become an adviser.
