Kobe Steel fesses up to more data cheating

New cover-up, involvement of more units come to light

TOKYO -- Japan's scandal-tainted Kobe Steel said Friday that employees and management at one of its plants hid fabricated product quality data from an internal investigation, while a group company may have run afoul of industrial standardization laws.

"Our governance was insufficient," Executive Vice President Naoto Umehara told reporters at a news conference.
