TOKYO -- Scandal-ridden Kobe Steel will not pay shareholders interim dividends for the six months ended in September as its financial results have become increasingly uncertain following massive data falsification at the steelmaker.
The Japanese company decided in July to resume its interim dividend payment for the first time in two years, but has been forced to backtrack. The embattled steelmaker will make the decision at its board meeting, and announce it publicly when it releases its second quarter earnings later today.
