SHANGHAI -- China is not exactly famous for its stellar customer service, but that may be about to change. A Japanese-style vocational training center was recently established in Shanghai to foster professionals for the country's service industry.
East China Normal University, one of the country's most prestigious public universities, has teamed up with the Japan Make-up Association (JMA) to set up the center on the university's campus. It aims to disseminate service skills to vocational students throughout China. The center is run by Chinese researchers who studied social (adult) education at the University of Tokyo and Nagoya University.
