Malaysia's EPF scouting investments in S. America, U.K.

Aims to raise foreign share in investment mix to 32% this year from 28% in 2017

KUALA LUMPUR (Nikkei Markets) -- Malaysia's Employees Provident Fund, buoyed with record profit and a strengthening ringgit, is scouting investment opportunities in foreign markets such as in the South America, its chief executive said Monday.

The pension fund is seeking to raise its share of overseas investments to about 32% of its portfolio this year from 28% as at the end of 2017, said Shahril Ridza Ridzuan. Conditions for investing in foreign markets are improving, in part, boosted by a strengthening ringgit, he said.
