HONG KONG -- The High Court in Hong Kong on Friday adjourned the first hearing of a wind-up petition against embattled mainland Chinese developer Country Garden Holdings, with the judge stressing that the case must proceed promptly.

Judge Master Yip Sue Pui set June 11 as the next court date. The representative of the creditor that filed the petition had sought an adjournment until the end of July, but the judge said that because Country Garden is a listed company in Hong Kong, the case needs to be addressed soon.
