SYDNEY -- Rail workers for Australian mining giant BHP Group have canceled a planned strike after the two sides reached an agreement that would raise wages by 20% over four years.

"Last night, BHP iron ore drivers called off industrial action after reaching an in-principle agreement with BHP," the union representing the drivers said in a statement.
