India shares advance as software exporters gain

Reliance Industries falls after profit misses estimates

MUMBAI (NewsRise) -- Indian shares rose Monday as gains in software exporters helped offset losses in Reliance Industries after its earnings lagged behind estimates.

The BSE Sensex advanced 0.6% to 35,160.36 and the Nifty 50 Index rose 0.4% to 10,739.35. Tata Consultancy Services closed 2.2% higher, and Infosys advanced 1.2%. HCL Technologies added 1% before its earnings on Wednesday. Indian markets are closed on Tuesday.
