MUMBAI (NewsRise) -- Indian shares rose for the fifth straight week, supported by gains in Reliance Industries and an earnings-driven rally among lenders.
The BSE Sensex climbed 0.7% to 34,969.70 and the Nifty 50 Index ended 0.7% higher at 10,692.30 on Friday, extending their advance this week to 1.6% and 1.2%, respectively. Reliance Industries was the biggest contributor to the weekly gains, rising 7.2% before the petrochemical-to-telecom conglomerate's earnings due later on Friday.
