Nikkei Asia300 Index rises as US stocks extend gains

Energy companies advance while Samsung, Tata Steel decline

MUMBAI (NewsRise) -- Asian stocks outside of Japan edged higher on Monday after the S&P 500 Index extended its rally, clocking the best weekly performance since 2013.

The Nikkei Asia300 Index rose 0.1% to 1,446.57. Trading activity was muted with markets in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Taiwan remaining closed for the Lunar New Year holidays.
