Securities companies expect solid year for Japan Inc in 2018

Net profit forecasts for nonfinancial sectors revised up from Sept figures to over 9%

Tokyo Stock Exchange

TOKYO -- Although losing some of its momentum before hitting the 23,000 mark, the Nikkei Stock Average has investors excited for 2018. Three leading Japanese securities firms have forecast an increase of about 9% in pretax and net profits of major Japanese companies for the year starting April 2018.

Share prices may increase further if companies can raise return on equity rates.
