TOKYO -- The success of Emmy Award-winning samurai drama "Shogun" has generated an investor buzz around Japanese companies with hit content.

As Japanese stocks were tumbling in August, Hiroki Iura, chief fund manager at Resona Asset Management, was buying additional shares in Tsuburaya Fields Holdings, the intellectual property holder for Ultraman, a popular Japanese superhero.
