TOKYO -- The Tokyo Stock Exchange plans to ask listed companies to lower the minimum investment amount as it seeks to encourage younger generations to purchase Japanese stocks.

Currently, the regulations stipulate that companies should strive to set the minimum investment amount below 500,000 yen ($3,500). The TSE aims to bring this down to around 100,000 yen as part of efforts to promote the shift in national assets from savings to investments.
