Ringgit drops despite economic growth

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia's ringgit continued to lose parity Friday as oil prices declined, and despite government assurances that the economy is growing.

     The currency depreciated almost 2% to 4.1 ringgit on the dollar, a 17-year low.
