TOKYO -- Japan's benchmark stock index closed lower on Monday, significantly recovering from a decline of more than 3% in early trading amid nagging concerns over the outlook for the U.S economy after mixed jobs data.
The Nikkei Stock Average dipped 175.72 points, or 0.48%, to close at 36,215.75. The average had declined as much as 1,143.6 points, or 3.1%, soon after the open, and was down 2.1% at the close of the morning session.
