MUMBAI (NewsRise) -- Indian shares extended losses on Monday amid lingering concerns over contagion risks posed by financial difficulties at Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS).
The BSE Sensex and the Nifty 50 Index dropped by 1.5% each after posting a loss of more than 3% last week, their worst in a year. Non-banking financial companies were among the biggest losers on the Nifty index on Monday. Bajaj Finance tumbled 5.3%, Indiabulls Housing Finance slumped 7.6%, and Housing Development Finance lost 6.2%.
