HONG KONG (Nikkei Markets) -- Asian shares outside of Japan advanced Monday alongside U.S. equity index futures, as investors cheered the resumption of U.S.-China trade talks and suspension of new tariffs on Chinese goods.
The Nikkei Asia300 Index of companies outside Japan added 0.7% to 1,335.26. Heavyweight Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing rose 4% and Hon Hai Precision Industry gained 2.6%. Largan Precision, the Taiwanese lens supplier to Apple, jumped 10%. Industry commodity manufactures, buoyed by optimism over US-China trade relations, were other major winners. Posco climbed 3.1%, Hyundai Steel advanced 2.3%, and Tata Steel edged 0.5% higher.
