MARKET BUZZ: Malaysia's Berjaya Assets Rises 1.6% On Bonus Rumor

By Chong Sin Hao
Nikkei Markets
KUALA LUMPUR (Jun 22) -- Berjaya Assets jumps 1.6% to MYR1.29 on rumor about issue of bonus shares. "There are rumors about a bonus being announced this week, which may be followed by some corporate exercise within the Berjaya Group by end of this year or early next year," says dealer at local brokerage. Shares have rallied 41.4% year-to-date. Company officials couldn't be immediately reached for comment. "Any bonus and potential corporate exercise will attract buying interest as the shares are still trading at a level cheaper than its net tangible asset," he adds.
