MARKET BUZZ: Malaysia's Consumer Sector Among Likely Budget Gainers - TA

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 27) -- TA Securities expects consumer sector to benefit from Budget, on potential higher cash handouts and measures implemented to enhance disposable income of lower and mid-income group. "Overall, we view the food & beverage, retail sector to be the main beneficiaries from the Budget 2018 announcement," says house in investor note; expects higher cash handouts, tax relief, civil servants salary to boost spending. Certain allocation and incentives also likely to boost tourism sector, helping consumer companies to enjoy higher tourist spending. House keeps Neutral view on consumer sector, with Buy call on Hup Seng Industries, Amway. Bursa Malaysia Consumer index now +0.1% at 624.39 points; Hup Seng down 0.9% at MYR1.17, Amway flat at MYR7.22.
