Singapore shares edge down, Malaysian election prompts caution

SINGAPORE (Nikkei Markets) -- Singapore shares closed slightly lower Thursday in directionless trade after a dramatic general election in neighboring Malaysia spotlighted the uncertainties clouding the market.

The Straits Times Index lost 0.3% to close at 3,537.59.
