TOKYO -- South Korea's manufacturing sector in January fell to its lowest level in more than two years as sluggish domestic demand was compounded by weak export sales, according to a survey.
The Nikkei South Korea Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index, or PMI, fell to 48.3 in January from 49.8 during December, falling further below the 50-point line separating expansion from contraction. The reading was the weakest since November 2016.
