BEIJING -- Sales of new housing in China are expected to suffer their first back-to-back annual declines this year, as the country's troubled property sector struggles with weak homebuyer confidence.

New housing sales fell 7.3% on the year by area in the January-November period, data published Friday by the National Bureau of Statistics shows. This decline has worsened as the year has progressed.
