HONG KONG -- Hongkong Land, the top landlord in the city's bustling Central business district, has converted a former law office into restaurants, tapping into one of the few resilient areas of the local property market.

A floor of Alexandra House, a premium office block, is now home to French restaurant Ami/Wood Ear and to Grand Majestic Sichuan. The pair have opened outdoor seating in a previously unused terrace area.
