Corporate Japan wooing retail investors as cross-shareholdings unwind

TOKYO -- The Nikkei Stock Average remained stuck just below 20,000 on Thursday as concerns grew about a looser supply-demand balance from unwinding of cross-shareholdings. But some companies are successfully attracting retail investors as their next big shareholders.
