Japanese IT stocks shine amid bright long-term prospects

TOKYO -- Investors worried about the global economy's every little hiccup may want to adopt a long-term perspective, particularly with regard to the information technology industry.

     Amid falling oil prices, Japanese energy stocks faced selling Tuesday, with Inpex plunging 6% and Idemitsu Kosan giving back 5% at one point. Companies reliant on Asian operations lost ground, fanning concerns about overseas conditions and keeping steelmakers and machinery builders weak.
