TOKYO -- Investors are keeping their distance from the Tokyo market ahead of earnings announcements later in the month, concerned that dividend payouts could take a hit as a strengthening yen dents earnings outlooks.
The Nikkei Stock Average dipped for the first time in three sessions Monday, shedding 0.44% to land at 15,751. The value of trading for the day failed to rise above the 2 trillion yen ($18.5 billion) mark.
