Resource, tourism, bank shares hit 2015-16 lows

TOKYO -- China's economic slowdown and cheap crude oil continued to hinder the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Tuesday, driving a whopping 317 issues to their lowest level since the beginning of 2015.

That figure was the most since Aug. 25, when 852 issues fell to their lowest since the start of the year before. The Nikkei Stock Average dropped for the sixth straight session to end at 17,218.96, down 2.7% from Friday's close.
