HONG KONG -- Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp.'s net profit during the July-September period rose 37% from a year earlier to $113 million, marking the 18th straight quarter of rising profit, the company announced after the end of trading on Monday.
Sales during the period grew 36% to $774 million, thanks to growing demand for silicon wafers, a semiconductor material. The number represented a 12% increase over the April-June period.
