TOKYO -- The index for the Tokyo Stock Exchange's second section rose for a fifth straight session Tuesday, reaching its highest since early February.
The index featuring medium-sized companies closed 12.22 points higher at 4,420.73, up 0.28%. Individual investors flocked to small- and mid-cap stocks, companies reliant mainly on the domestic market, as fears of the strengthening yen kept them away from the large caps. Strong earnings also led investors to snap up the shares.
