HONG KONG (Nikkei Markets) -- Hong Kong shares rose by midday on Friday, led by technology shares for a second consecutive day, after the Nasdaq Composite extended its gains in New York overnight.
The Hang Seng Index had advanced 0.9% to 28,550.41 by the noon break. Three technology companies on Hong Kong's main gauge continued their climb on Friday following the previous day's increases. Index heavyweight Tencent Holdings was up 2.7%, while Apple suppliers AAC Technologies Holdings and Sunny Optical Technology Group had gained 5.7% and 4%, respectively. The trio of stocks were among the day's most actively traded.
