Japanese firms rev up output of EV range-boosting materials

Mitsubishi Chemical, Asahi Kasei, others tap demand for better performance

TOKYO -- Mitsubishi Chemical Group and Asahi Kasei are among Japanese companies increasing production of materials that allow electric vehicles to travel farther, looking to tap demand for higher performance in the rapidly growing market.

Mitsubishi Chemical will increase production of substrates for next-generation power semiconductors made from gallium nitride (GaN), for use in EV motors.
