NAGOYA, Japan -- A major Japanese materials manufacturer has developed a new strategy to use artificial intelligence to analyze 100 years' worth of its experiment data to speed up development of new materials.

NGK Insulators, which manufactures ceramic-based products including car exhaust filtration parts, hopes to cut down development periods to one-tenth of current levels.
