SEOUL/GUANGZHOU -- As thousands filled the aisles to kick off this year's InterBattery industry expo in Seoul, three booths stood out among the 250 participants for their large size.

The three booths belonged to LG Energy Solution, SK Innovation and Samsung SDI -- South Korea's largest battery manufacturers -- and associates from each held a flurry of discussions with material and equipment suppliers who were among the 12,000 people who attended the event on Thursday.
