HANOI -- Hoa Phat, Vietnam's top steelmaker, will build a 14 trillion dong ($540 million) factory to supply steel for new railway projects in the country, its chairman announced Thursday.

The railway projects is part of Vietnam's expanding infrastructure drive that aims to help the country achieve its ambitious 8% target this year despite escalating trade war disruptions. The new plant would be Hoa Phat's first foray into supplying steel for a railway.
