SEOUL/TOKYO -- Webtoon Entertainment, South Korean internet group Naver's online comic unit, will seek to reach a bigger global audience with the $315 million raised from a U.S. initial public offering this week.

Webtoon aims to "expedite our expansion into the North American market to achieve a similar status as in Korea and Japan," Chief Strategy Officer Kim Yongsoo told reporters after Thursday's debut on Nasdaq.
