DALIAN, China -- The northeastern Chinese city of Shenyang has announced it will open a center for minidrama production next week, bringing the burgeoning online entertainment field to a region better known for heavy industry.

The 213 YC-Future Audiovisual Culture Industry Park, set to start up next Monday, is located at a 20,000-square-meter site that once housed a machine tool factory.
