Get spirited away: Studio Ghibli park to open in Japan Nov. 1

Nature-friendly design expected to initially draw 1 million visitors a year

NAGOYA -- It will be a dream land for Studio Ghibli fans. Visitors can walk into the antique store featured in "Whisper of the Heart" or stroll around the countryside depicted in "My Neighbor Totoro." 

A theme park based on films by Studio Ghibli, which produced Hayao Miyazaki's Oscar-winning "Spirited Away," will open in Aichi Prefecture, near Nagoya, on Nov. 1, the prefecture and the management park announced Thursday.
