TOKYO -- Japan's anime production market has topped $2 billion in value, thanks to hit movies and the growth of streaming services.

Anime companies generated 339 billion yen ($2.26 billion) in revenue last year, according to Tokyo-based Teikoku Databank, the most ever in data going back to 2000. The figure is up 22.9% from 2022.
