TOKYO -- Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will soon admonish LY Corp., operator of the popular chat app Line and internet portal Yahoo Japan, after the company announced a string of data leaks due to hacks, Nikkei has learned.

The ministry will demand that the company strengthen its security with respect to the app and supervision of subcontractors, as well as report on the implementation of measures taken to protect customers' interests.
