TOKYO -- Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has issued a warning to NHK over unscripted remarks about sensitive topics related to China, as the public broadcaster is criticized for lacking a sense of risk associated with live radio broadcasts and a delayed response.

During an international, Chinese-language radio broadcast on Aug. 19, a Chinese outside staffer working for NHK made unscripted remarks for about 20 seconds, saying the Senkaku Islands -- which are administered by Japan and claimed by China as the Diaoyu -- belong to China and that the Nanjing Massacre should not be forgotten.
