TOKYO -- Major Japanese publishers are increasingly releasing manga domestically and overseas at the same time, in a bid to actively draw foreign fans to new titles rather than passively benefit from buzz over anime adaptations.

In July, the Japan Expo in Paris was abuzz with the news that the manga series "Kagurabachi" would receive a French-language "simulpub" release starting in September, allowing French fans to read each new chapter at the same time as their Japanese counterparts.
