TOKYO -- The Japanese government plans to select 200 locations nationwide as regional content creation centers in a bid to grow the country's pop culture industry, Nikkei has learned.

The content hubs, which are set to be chosen by 2033, will facilitate collaboration among local governments, companies, universities and other organizations.
