NEW DELHI/TOKYO -- Anime companies in Japan are busy expanding their penetration in the Indian market to tap demand from the generations of viewers who grew up watching children's titles.

Japanese media group Avex runs Anime Times as a distributor that streams anime in India through Amazon Prime Video. The Anime Times venture has received funding from such major Japanese publishers as Shueisha.
