UJI, Japan -- Nintendo opened the Nintendo Museum on Wednesday in Uji, south of Kyoto, to showcase the unique qualities that define the Japanese video game company.

The museum features interactive play areas where visitors can enjoy well-known games such as Super Mario using huge controllers in pairs. It also includes exhibition spaces displaying products from the company's long history, which dates back to its founding in 1889.
