TOKYO -- Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) has acquired North America's seventh-largest theater chain, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, it announced Wednesday.

Alamo Drafthouse will be managed within SPE's newly established division, Sony Pictures Experiences, and will continue to operate its 35 cinemas. Alamo Drafthouse's CEO will remain unchanged from Michael Kustermann.
