Sony posts 7.8% operating profit decline for Q3

Company raises full-year forecast slightly, helped by recovering PS5 production

TOKYO -- Sony Group announced on Thursday a 7.8% drop in quarterly operating profit as its movie segment stumbled, despite the release of a number of hit titles in 2021.

Operating profit of the electronics and entertainment giant totaled 428.7 billion yen ($3.33 billion) in the October-December quarter, down from 465.2 billion yen a year earlier.
